| the advertiser. The story of Echo Leif Mercury Ormsby is no simple one, a fact that remains apparent in his name. This name given to him by his parents Gloria and Edmund (whacked out astronomers) seems quite unfair and people often say he's being punished for a crime he has yet to commit. His parents, however, swear that they did it for reasons that they felt were great. Echo had yet to see what possessed them to send him into a world of mockery... until he grew up, that is.
From the moment he was born in Seattle on August 17, 1989, Echo's parents knew he was destined for greatness. An astronaut, maybe. Or an actor. Or- dare they say it- the President, despite his constant claims that he was moving to Canada after he got his MBA. All babies are curious, wanting to see and know about everything around them. His parents, of course, saw this as a sign of genius and immediately enrolled him into the best schools that money could buy. They didn't care how much was spent; they were educating the future President, after all. Echo was, in fact, no genius but he was rather smart for his age. The first in his family to do so, he skipped two grades: the eighth and the ninth. It was there that he became interested in the advertising. His gaming obsession didn't come into play until he was in high school and found it as an excellent escape from exams and teachers hounding him to be everyone's tutor.
Echo suffered from teasing and bullying from the age of six to about fifteen. He was the geek of his class, the type to bury his nose in his books and games and work to get away from other people. It wasn't until his body decided to give him a break at sixteen that people started noticing him for his personality rather than his name. Well, he liked to think it was for his personality but he knew it was really because of his looks. Who the hell was he to complain? He filled out considerably, scrawny arms and legs becoming muscular thanks to the track team. He was comfortable in his body, though, and he filled out enough to be considered his age rather than a thirteen year old boy. He liked to say he got it from forcing himself to run and workout but his father swore it was his good genes finally shining through. Not only would the President be smart, but he'd be a sexy bachelor. His parents never did listen very well.
When he graduated, Echo applied to schools all over the country and decided on Boston University. His mother pulled all the strings she knew to get him into Yale and his father did the same with Dartmouth. He declined both, claiming that he felt they'd stifle his independence and create another 'Republican'. His father simply replied with "that's what we want!" Against their wishes, he accepted his admission into BU and proceeded to focus on getting his B.A. in Communication Design. Echo moved from Seattle to ---- to study and now interns with an advertising and public relations agency. His parents follwed along with his then one year old brother so that they wouldn't be to far from him and other members of their extended family. He's satisfied with this part of his life but he hopes that things will only get better from here.
